Celebrating Success: DJ Wins Youth Award at the Fairfield Local Business Awards!

We are incredibly proud and excited to share that our talented apprentice, Dejahnjae Hiki Tuhi, known fondly by our team as DJ, has been awarded the Youth Award at this year’s Fairfield Local Business Awards!

This achievement is not just a personal milestone for DJ, but also a reflection of the values we hold dear as a business: commitment, growth, teamwork, and integrity. Winning the Fairfield Local Business Youth Award recognises DJ’s dedication, hard work, and passion for his craft. While DJ was unfortunately unwell and unable to attend the ceremony in person, our amazing team members (Manager Emma, Factory Joiner Kurt, and Site Supervisor Brendan) were proud to accept the award on his behalf.

A Well-Deserved Recognition

The Youth Award is designed to honour young individuals who display exceptional dedication, performance and potential in their respective fields, and DJ is the embodiment of all three. Over the past year, we’ve watched him grow from a promising apprentice into a valued member of our team, consistently going above and beyond in everything he does.

Whether he’s:

• Supporting our site teams with hands-on work,
• Assisting Emma with office administration and day-to-day tasks,
• Or keeping our factory clean, organised and efficient behind the scenes

DJ approaches every responsibility with a quiet determination and maturity well beyond his years. No task is ever “too hard” or “beneath him”; he simply gets stuck in and gives 110%. That’s the kind of attitude that turns good team members into great ones.

DJ: A Future Leader in the Making

What makes DJ stand out isn’t just his technical ability or his willingness to learn; it’s his attitude. He shows up every day with purpose, a positive mindset and a genuine desire to contribute. He doesn’t shy away from responsibility, and he’s always willing to help others, regardless of the challenge.

DJ has become a reliable go-to for many tasks within the team, and his presence makes a real difference across multiple areas of the business. It’s no surprise, then, that this Youth Award is so well-deserved. We see the effort he puts in every day, and we’re thrilled to see that effort acknowledged by the broader community.

Our Factory Joiner, Kurt Allen, being nominated for Business Person of the Year, is another proud moment. Kurt is the type of leader who inspires those around him. He’s a mentor to many, including DJ, and plays a pivotal role in driving innovation and efficiency in our operations. His nomination is a testament to his dedication, work ethic and the respect he’s earned throughout the industry.
